PAS' hudud and Umno's hudud - any difference?

YOURSAY 'So if Umno supports hudud, will MCA leave BN...?'

DAP finished if PAS starts hudud, says MCA

Versey: MCA publicity chairperson Chai Kim Sen, just to refresh your memory, please go and read these news reports:

PM Najib Razak (the Umno president) had said that the federal government never rejected hudud. MCA Youth said it respected Umno's stance on supporting the implementation of hudud. Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad said MCA did not object to Islamic country declaration.

Now, knowing that hudud is part of Islamic criminal law; can you please tell us what the difference between PAS' hudud and Umno's hudud is? Or are you implying that PAS and Umno members are Muslims of different sects?

How could you pin the blame on DAP (which never condoned hudud) should there be an implementation of hudud with the consent of the federal government, where MCA is a member of the ruling party?

Anon1: Kelantan PAS can only implement hudud if MCA MPs together with their BN MPs support PAS' private member's bill. Everyone knows that PAS does not have sufficient support in Parliament to get this bill through Parliament.

So, please try this scare tactic on people who are really dim. If hudud is implemented in Kelantan, that will be due to BN MPs voting in its favour.

Disgusted: PAS on its own can't implement hudud in Kelantan unless it has Umno's support. So if Umno supports it, will MCA leave BN, as Umno is equally culpable in agreeing to allow PAS to impose hudud?

Anyway, why is MCA barking so much as it hasn't happened yet and DAP has already said it will break away from Pakatan Rakyat if PAS imposes hudud in Kelantan and PKR does not object and allows PAS to stay in the coalition?

If PAS imposes hudud in Kelantan, it will be the end of PAS in Pakatan. Either they leave or DAP leaves. It is up to PKR to decide who they want in the coalition.

ACR: Indeed, hudud can only be implemented with a change to our federal laws and PAS can only do it with Umno's support. A double finish for MCA? And MIC too.

Disgusted: I also wish to highlight to MCA that it was its support for Umno that led to the 'Allah' issue which the non-Muslims are currently embroiled in.

They and the others in BN gave their support in the Selangor state assembly when BN was in power to ban the use of 'Allah' and a host of other words, which became a law in Selangor long before Pakatan took over.

And now it has become a pain for the Pakatan government whilst MCA and Gerakan side with Umno and lay the blame on Pakatan which inherited the law.

Whatsup: We trust DAP to protect our interests and our future, they have the integrity and credibility. But we can't say the same for MCA, which is nothing but a party that has no morals and integrity.

Everyone knows PAS is unstable - they even dared to renege on an agreement made with its Pakatan allies and lie their way through the Selangor MB crisis.

Wait, yes, PAS is exactly like MCA - 100 percent untrustworthy and 100 percent treacherous.

Odysseus: Umno has proven that MCA is truly weak. MCA is a party which allows itself to be part of Umno's ‘sandiwara’ to champion the national school system.

If MCA allows the Umno delegates to debate the existence of vernacular schools, then it only shows Umno has no respect for MCA and whatever it's trying to champion.

Relevancy: It looks like MCA is diverting attention on the vernacular school issue with this hudud issue.

Gan: Review Islamic words ban nationwide

Zen: Former MCA leader Gan Ping Sieu, don't waste your time challenging something that is impossible for you to win.

Better to concentrate your efforts to expose more government wrongdoings so that the rakyat can change the regime if the allegations are found to be true and detrimental to the rakyat and the future generations.

Hang Tuah PJ: The Arabs in my residential area are laughing. They say those are Arabic words, period, and if there is any need to ban them, only the Arabs have the right to ban others from using their words. No one else.

If they want to ban us from using Malay words, no problem. We can communicate in English.

Supercession: Just ban the non-Malays from using Malay and Arabic languages. That way, from Umno's point of view, the non-Malays will never get to linguistically sully Umno's brand of Islam.

MingXiang: Childish and frivolous of these defenders of the sanctity of Islam, if you ask me. Is it just to show the superiority of their race or of the faith? The 'tuans' are not very tolerant, are they?
