Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob will finally meet police over his Facebook remark urging a boycott of Chinese businesses.
Ismail who previously claimed he was "busy" said he will meet with the police after Indonesian President Joko Widodo leaves.
Joko, fondly known as Jokowi, arrived on Thursday for a three-day visit to Malaysia.
"I have told the police, after Jokowi's visit, I will meet them," he said at a press conference in Hulu Kelang this morning.
Inspector-general of Police Khalid Abu Bakar had announced that the cops will record Ismail Sabri's statement after the post in which the minister urged Malays to boycott Chinese businesses.
He had accused Chinese businesses of refusing to reduce prices of their goods despite the fall in petrol and diesel prices.
However, Khalid later said the process was delayed due to the minister's hectic schedule.
At a press conference today, Ismail Sabri refused to weigh in on a Facebook page which lists out Chinese businesses purportedly linked to DAP and calls for its boycott.
"Let us move forward. It is better to leave this matter instead of raising them," he said.
He added the priority was on reducing the price of goods.
Ismail Sabri insisted his earlier boycott statement was well-intended and indicated that it has had a positive effect
"Never have Malaysians talked about the issue of reducing prices like this," he said.
Ismail was launching a price reduction campaign which involves 73 items in 577 farmers' market nationwide.
