Supporters of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang converged outside the PAS headquarters ahead of the party's central committee (CC) meeting this morning in a show of force against their chief’s critics.

Numbering over 80, they said they were rallying against party leaders they claimed were out to unseat Hadi.

The protest, led by Kuantan PAS Youth chief Fadhli Ibrahim singled out PAS central committee member Hatta Ramli as the main mover against Hadi.

The pro-Hadi group held placards such as ‘We want Hatta Ramli to resign’, ‘Sack Hatta, traitor’ and ‘Sack Hatta and his men’.

Another placard bore Hatta's face as well as those of PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu, PAS vice president Husam Musa, PAS Muslimat election director Aiman Athirah and PasMa chief Pharolrazi Zawawi, demanding all of them to resign.

Several members of the PAS central committee are getting increasingly frustrated with Hadi for making unilateral decisions, in particular those causing a rift in Pakatan Rakyat.

The PAS syura council had decided that Hadi had veto powers and could overrule the central committee, a ruling the president had made full use of.

The PAS CC meeting this morning precedes Pakatan’s leadership council meeting to be held in the afternoon, which Hadi has been non-committal in attending.

'Outsiders manipulating'

Fadhli ( below right, in green ) claimed the conspiracy movers allegedly planning to unseat Hadi controls half of the PAS CC.

 

"Our concern is the decisions of PAS is made by outside elements through an evil conspiracy by Hatta Ramli and his group," he said.

 

He also accused DAP of giving RM1.5 million in funds to PasMa, a dissenting group in PAS, citing allegations made by blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin.

However it has already been reported that the funds were the Penang government's flood relief aid to Kelantan, that PasMa was assisting in during the flood disaster last  December-January.

 

Abdul Hadi arrived some 10 minutes into the protest as supporters chanted, "Takbir!"

 

Hadi upon arrival waved to his supporters and proceeded directly into the PAS headquarters as they chanted, "Destroy PasMa."

 

Later, Fadhli revealed a series of screenshots of Whatsapp conversations between PAS members and leaders, which he said is evidence of a conspiracy against the ulama in PAS led by Hadi.

 

He also produced a statutory declaration (SD) backing the authenticity of the WhatsApp conversation.

 

Among the members in the said chat group were purportedly Hatta, Aiman and one ‘Nie Feng @ Mazhar Yusof’.

 

The SD, which had the name and personal details blacked out, said Hatta had called four PAS exco members during former Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim's administration " barua " (lackey) for sacking Anwar Ibrahim as the state economic advisor.

 

The chat also purportedly showed Aiman supporting PasMa.

 

In the conversation was mention of the chat group name being ‘Lawan Amno Media Baru PGS’ that was later renamed to ‘Hawaii Five-O’.

 

The chat ended abruptly after one ‘Nordin’ lashed out at the group members and slammed the progressives in the party, popularly known as the Erdogans or the progressives.

The pro-Hadi rally dispersed shortly after Hadi's arrival.

Meanwhile when asked after the CC meeting, PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali said the protest was not discussed at the meeting and brushed if off.

PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub, when asked about the protest, also dismissed any conspiracy to bring down the party president.

However, he said that the party will scrutinise the memorandum submitted by the protesters and that action will be taken if there were merits to their allegations.
