Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim's bid to attend the opening of the Parliament session next week, despite being imprisoned, has been rejected by the Prisons Department, reports say.

The BN Backbenchers Club (BNBBC) website reported today that the prisons authorities have swiftly rejected the application put in by Anwar's wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar.
