Abdul Rahman Dahlan is upset that the opposition has drawn Bank Negara Malaysia into the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) controversy.
"When will these mentally deranged people stop?" the housing and local government minister tweeted today.
"Wow! AmBank, Cayman Island, PetroSaudi, Ananda (Krishnan) and now Bank Negara. Next, he will say the sun revolves around him!" he added.
Although Rahman did not mention names, it is obvious that the Umno leader was referring to PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli, who told Malaysiakini that he believes there has been interference in the central bank in relation to 1MDB, despite the red flags.
1MDB's IPO bid
Following this, Rahman tweeted that while fielding tough questions was fine and welcomed, the "wild allegations", however, pointed to one objective - "to preempt 1MDB's IPO".
Previously, it was reported that 1MDB's energy units are attempting to be listed on the stock exchange.
"1MDB is not just about transparency and accountability anymore. It's now gutter politics with a deliberate business sabotage to undermine 1MDB," Rahman said.
Rafizi and DAP lawmaker Tony Pua have been the ailing fund's harshest critics and the attacks intensified following a series of damning revelations in whistleblower website Sarawak Report .
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak requested the auditor-general to verify 1MDB’s accounts.
The cabinet, on the other hand, stated that it found no wrongdoings on the part of the state investment firm.
Yesterday, Najib filed a defamation suit against Pua for the latter's comments regarding this matter.
