PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang did not issue a statement urging all PAS members to join the Kita Lawan’s Kuala Lumpur rally at 4pm tomorrow, in solidarity with jailed PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Whether or not PAS joins the rally will indicate the state of affairs in Pakatan Rakyat, following the jailing of Anwar who has been playing the role of conduit between DAP and PAS.

“I would like to deny that this media statement came from the PAS president,” Hadi’s political secretary Samsuri Mokhtar said in a statement on Hadi’s official Facebook.

The page’s administrator also clarified that Hadi is now performing the umrah in Mecca.

The fake statement among others says that the BN government "must be toppled".

The announcement comes just as online radio outfit Radio Bangsar Utama reported that PAS group Unit Amal will join the rally and will march from the PAS headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut.

Unit Amal usually facilitates demonstrations by providing crowd control services, but rarely joins a demonstration as participants.

Radio Bangsar Utama is linked to Kita Lawan organiser Adam Adli Abdul Halim.

Kita Lawan earlier slammed DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng for urging all Pakatan Rakyat representatives in Penang to attend to their duties in Penang tomorrow instead of attending the rally.

Lim said this weekend sees the start of the handing out of the appreciation award of RM100 each for senior citizens, during which the assemblypersons would be present to distribute the money.

"It is a people's programme, so we need to treat that as a priority," Lim said.
