PAS lawmaker Mohd Hanipa Maidin has once again challenged government-appointed prosecutor Muhammad Shafee Abdullah to a debate on opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim's case.

He said Umno Youth Khairy Jamaluddin is also welcomed to take him on either in a one-to-one or tag team debate.

"It can be me and (PKR vice-president) Rafizi Ramli versus Shafee and Khairy. We can debate anywhere including on RTM," he told Malaysiakini .

Hanipa said he issued the challenge during the debate on the royal address in Parliament yesterday.

The MP, who was initially part of Anwar's legal team, said despite the conviction and sentence being upheld, there are some lingering questions.

He further questioned Umno Youth's motive in organising a road-show with Shafee regarding the sodomy case.

Rafizi, who is also Pandan MP, told Malaysiakini that he had no qualms debating Shafee and Khairy.

Previously, Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek offered RTM as a platform for the debate to be held.

However, he said the debate should be between Bar Council president Christopher Leong and Shafee.
