Confusion reigns over the stand of PKR's sole elected representative in the Kelantan assembly that passed the controversial hudud bill this morning.

Quizzed on whether he voted in favour of the bill, Guchil assemblyperson Roslan Puteh ( right ) merely replied, "I did not raise my hand."

"Others also did not raise their hands," he added when pressed further.

There was no call for a show of hands as the speaker had asked if those present agreed with the bill or otherwise.

Since there were no objections, the bill was passed unanimously.

Asked specifically if he voted for or against the bill, Roslan replied, "My instructions (was outlined in) Rafizi Ramli's statement".

In Kuala Lumpur, PKR had issued a press release stating that Roslan had been instructed to abstain from debating the bill or voting on it.

This is because the party is of the view that implementing hudud law was not a priority for now.

Gerakan wants Roslan sacked

When asked at the Parliament building today, Rafizi ( below ), the PKR vice-president and secretary general, told Malaysiakini that Roslan was instructed not to attend the sitting or participate in the debate.

Meanwhile Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang has called for the PKR representative’s sacking for allegedly breaching party instructions on the bill.

"PKR owes an immediate explanation to all Malaysians over this matter.

"If PKR is really not in favour of hudud laws, then they should immediately sack their Kelantan state assemblyperson for violating their party’s policy," he said in a statement.

PAS Kelantan's insistence on tabling the bill and its passing today has elicited an uproar among its Pakatan allies today for going against their colletive decision.
