Demanding the resignation of DAP elected representatives over the hudud bill issue, MCA Youth has prepared a stack of resignation letters for them.

"They just need to fill in their details in the resignation letters and step down from their positions now," MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon, who led a group to protest outside the DAP headquarters this morning, said.

Chong and two other MCA Youth members submitted the resignation letters to DAP's head of administration Chu Yoon Ming, who refused to comment.

Chong ( left in picture ) said MCA Youth prepared the resignation letters for the DAP representatives because the party had promised they would resign if PAS implements hudud.

“During the last general election campaign, DAP called the Chinese community not to worry about hudud because PAS would not implement it.

“At that time, DAP promised that if PAS implemented hudud, its members would resign as representatives elected by the people,” he said.

Chong also declared that MCA would hold on to the final hurdles in Parliament to ensure that hudud is not implemented in Malaysia.

“Today we feel very angry, for DAP could not hold the first hurdle. It has let Kelantan pass the hudud amendment bill.

“Now, the ball has come to our feet. It is our duty now to keep the hudud bill out of Parliament,” he said.

Why didn't Guan Eng make a stand?

Chong also asked why DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng did not clearly make a stand on the party’s position on the Kelantan hudud amendment bill, instead of just saying “let it be passed first”.

As for the 13 Kelantan Umno assemblypersons who also voted for the bill, Chong said it could have been passed even if all of them were absent, since PAS has the numbers in the state assembly to do so.

And on some of the federal Umno leaders backing hudud, including Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Chong said the BN supreme council would be the final decision maker on this issue.

“We only holding the BN supreme council accountable. Any individual, or minister or division leader has his or her right to speak on this issue.

“MCA is very confident that the BN supreme council, and all the 14 component party members, will abide by and uphold the Federal Constitution,” Chong said.

Nevertheless, he added, if Umno turned around to back hudud and implement it, MCA already has its comprehensive plan to act against it.
