Umno Youth is satisfied with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's explanations during a 90-minute closed-door dialogue today on allegations raised by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The movement's leader Khairy Jamaluddin said Najib's explanations were more in-depth compared with his interview with TV3 last Thursday on the same subjects.

"After listening to the Umno president's explanation, we have a clearer picture on the current issues.

"He answered one by one all the issues raised by Mahathir and was more detailed than in the interview. There are more detailed answers because there were time constraints in the interview, he couldn’t address the issues one by one," Khairy told reporters.

He said Umno Youth leaders had also urged Najib to expedite the auditor-general's probe into 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

"If there is any swindling or misappropriation of funds, those who are responsible should be brought to justice," Khairy added.

He said Najib had agreed to this.

"Najib wants every matter that involves 1MDB to be investigated and stern action must be taken if there is any kind of wrongdoing," Khairy said.

Meanwhile, Khairy said Umno Youth would not be a blind follower and defend the indefensible.

"Because, if we do so, Umno will sink in the next election," he said, adding that there was nothing to gain from providing superficial support.
