DAP to build mosque in Kelantan
DAP has announced plans to build a mosque for the Muslim community in Kampung Pasir Tumboh, Gua Musang, Kelantan.
DAP has announced plans to build a mosque for the Muslim community in Kampung Pasir Tumboh, Gua Musang, Kelantan.
Party organising secretary Anthony Loke said they agreed to do so after receiving a request from the local imam (mosque leader) and residents.
Loke said DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang had instructed him to make the announcement today.
"We are ready to build a mosque in Kampung Pasir Tumboh," Loke said in his speech at a ceremony held with regard to the houses built by NGO Gabungan Impian Kelantan today.
The houses were constructed from public donations and 40 units have been built and handed to deserving owners.
Each house had cost between RM15,000 and RM20,000 to build.
Meanwhile, Loke said DAP hoped that residents in Kampung Pasir Tumboh as well as the mosque committee would agree to the construction of the mosque.
"We are helping on the basis of humanity," he said.
He added that DAP assured that funds to build the mosque would be from the public and free of haram (forbidden) elements such as gambling.
The mosque in Kampung Pasir Tumboh had been damaged by floods which occurred in December last year.
Speaking at the same function, Kampung Pasir Tumboh’s imam Abdul Mutalip Seman said residents have no qualms as to who builds the mosque.
"We are now able to live comfortably with help from the Gabungan Impian Kelantan as well as from other NGOs.
"The only thing that has yet to be fixed is our mosque. We hope DAP and other NGOs are willing to build our mosque," he added.
