Incensed by Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin's 'sexist' remark, a group of protesters is moving to demonstrate outside his house in Ampang.
They vowed to do so immediately after protesting against him outside the parliament building this morning.
"We will go to Bung Moktar's house (now). We will not delay what we had said," said one of the protest's leaders Salmah Ismail ( photo ) when asked for confirmation.
She was speaking to reporters outside the parliament after leading about 60 people to protest against the controversial MP.
The protest had started at about 10am this morning and lasted around an hour and 15 minutes before dispersing peacefully.
In her speech during the protest, Salmah said the move was to show the group’s dissatisfaction towards Bung Moktar’s actions, and the proceeded to read out what is purported to be his address.
During a parliamentary debate on June 9, Bung Moktar had insinuated that the husband of Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin would be fearful of her because of her behaviour in parliament.
Zuraida raised a complaint on Monday this week, but Deputy Speaker Ronald Kiandee only demanded Bung to explain himself and took no further action.
In explaining his remarks however, Bung only reiterated his allegedly offensive remarks, causing up uproar in the august house that left Bung Moktar perplexed.
"Why can't I say this?" the BN Backbencher’s Club deputy chief commented.
Sexist remarks
This was not the first time Bung Moktar had made supposedly sexist remarks in Parliament, with Seputeh MP Teresa Kok and then Batu Gajah MP Fong Po Kuan, being among his previous targets.
The protestors demanded that Bung Moktar ( photo ) apologise and step down for his repeated offences, while some shouted that he should be suspended.
Among the MPs who turned up to show support include Zuraida, Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh, Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen, Sepang MP Hanipa Maidin, and others.
Also present was Selangor Taman Medan Assemblyperson Haniza Talha.
