PAS wants to oust Nizar as Perak opposition leader

PAS wants DAP to respect the Islamist party’s stand on Mohammed Nizar Jamaluddin’s position as opposition leader in the Perak state assembly, seen by PAS as no longer apt.

Ipoh Timur PAS Youth chief, Salman Saleh said the division’s Youth wing disagreed with DAP’s stance of retaining Mohammad Nizar as state opposition leader.

“PAS has five assemblypersons, the same number as PKR, in addition to Mohammad Nizar’s current situation now where he no longer holds a major post in PAS, which the DAP should take into consideration.”

He said Mohammad Nizar’s position needed to be reviewed under the present circumstances.

“We urge that the Perak PAS liaison committee advise him (Mohammad Nizar) to relinquish his post as state opposition leader and the post be given back to DAP or PKR.

“If DAP still wants the post be retained by PAS, let the PAS leadership or the Pakatan Rakyat leadership council determine who is the most eligible for the post,” he said in a statement today.

Salman said allowing Mohammad Nizar to remain in that post was not the best way to mend ties between PAS and DAP.
