Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad has questioned why Putrajaya have yet to sue whistleblower website Sarawak Report and The Edge Media Group had their reports on the 1MDB controversy been inaccurate.

"Sarawak Report has been saying all kind of things which (the government) can sue (them for) and The Edge has been saying things (as well), daring the government to sue them.

"So why dont they sue?" he asked, when speaking to reporters after a function in Kuala Lumpur today.

He said this when asked to respond to Home Ministry Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's statement last night that Putrajaya may take action against the two news organisations, on grounds that they had published reports on 1MDB based on " tampered " information.

On Umno-linked lawyer Mohammad Shafee Abdullah's claim that Public Accounts Member (PAC) Tony Pua was "biased" for constantly criticising 1MDB in public, Mahathir replied that the entire PAC was "biased".

"Today they say Tony Pua is biased. The rest (of the PAC) all support Umno. So they are biased too.

"(Therefore), it is better to scrap PAC and we (Umno) will stand until the next election," said Mahathir.

According to Berita Harian today, Shafee had called for Pua's resignation because his constant criticisms of 1MDB had compromised the integrity and independence of the of the PAC.

"PAC members, including Pua, should act like judges in this case, and not make accusations and public statements about it. If they want to make statements like that, it is better to be a case witness," said Shafee.

Pua, the Petaling Jaya Utara MP, has been at the fore in exposing questionable business dealings by 1MDB over the past few years.
