Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today hinted that there may be a cabinet reshuffle soon despite several ministers denying this before.

Najib, when asked about speculations about a reshuffle, did not deny the matter and urged people to be patient.

"Just wait," he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur after chairing the Umno supreme council meeting today.

Najib also indicated that Natural Resources and Environment Minister G Palanivel, whose status as MIC president remains ambiguous, may not have much time left in the cabinet.

"Palanivel's position as a minister will be decided soon.

"For now, I want MIC to decide on their leadership," he said.

MIC deputy president S Subramaniam yesterday claimed the Registrar of Societies (ROS) has acknowledged that Palanivel is no longer a MIC member.

He also claimed that the ROS now recognised him as acting president.

Najib said that he would allow the courts to resolve the MIC crisis.

Previously, speculation was rife that the prime minister might axe his internal critics, such as Rural and Regional Development Minister Shafie Apdal, who has been the most critical voice  of the 1MDB saga.

Najib had even issued an ultimatum to ministers who disagreed with him to resign.
