Aug 25 and 26 set for ‘Duke crash’ trial

The Traffic Court in Kuala Lumpur today set Aug 25 and 26 for the trial of the two Perodua Myvi drivers involved in the tragic accident in Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (Duke) that claimed the lives of three family members in May.

Magistrate Noorul Fhaiez Mohd Nayan fixed the date after deputy public prosecutor Nadia Malek Fauzie had informed that the relevant documents of the case have been handed over to the defence.

On May 8, Siti Noor Aini Mohd Said, 36, and Mohammad Fizal Reza Jamauddin, 31, were charged with reckless driving that resulted in the death of Fairuz Nizam Husain, 35, his wife Nova Safitri Azhari, 27, and their six-month-old daughter Nur Firuza Annisa.

In the May 2 incident, both accused were alleged to have lost control of their vehicles and crashed into the vehicle carrying the family of three, killing Fairuz Nizam on the spot while his wife and baby died while on the way to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).

The couple were reported to be on their way home to Taman Muda, Batu Caves after attending a wedding reception in Putrajaya.

Counsels Omar Bakri Ahmad and SN Seelan represented Siti Noor Aini and Mohammad Fizal Reza respectively.
