No smoke without fire in 'PM's charge sheet'

YOURSAY ‘Najib, are you not embarrassed to stand beside the British PM?’

AG's Chambers denies 'charge sheet' against PM

Ferdtan: The exposure of the purported draft of a charge sheet prepared by sacked attorney-general (AG) Abdul Gani Patail is such a damning indictment against PM Najib Razak, who was supposedly one of the chief suspects to be charged.

Whether the leaked draft charge sheet was true or not, it is immaterial to his party opponents. After all, the public perception of Najib’s reputation has already taken a deep plunge.

That is unless he can come up with a strong rebuttal instead of a mere denial. Remaining silence would further erode the confidence of the people in the prime minister.

One thing for sure, those dropped in Tuesday’s cabinet reshuffle - former DPM Muhyiddin Yassin and a few other ministers - were the ones who had criticised Najib with regard to 1MBD scandal.

This is followed by the sudden sacking of Abdul Gani when he was one of the key four members of the special task force investigating 1MBD. At the same time, a new Special Branch director, Mohamad Fuzi Harun, was appointed.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was disrupted midway in its 1MBD probe with the promotion of four of its members to cabinet. And finally, the fire at Bukit Aman - the federal police headquarters. It set tongues wagging in the social media.

All occurred almost at the same time - coincidences?

Kim Quek: Sarawak Report’s allegation is convincing while Attorney-General’s Chamber head of prosecution Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hisham’s denial is not, for the simple reason that there is no conceivable reason (other than the one given by Sarawak Report ) why Najib had to resort to such drastic measure (and frankly, illegal) to terminate Abdul Gani’s services.

Magnus: "The draft of the charge sheet published by Sarawak Report was not made or issued by the AG's Chambers" tweeted the head of the prosecution division, Tun Abdul Majid."

How does Tun Abdul Majid know that for sure? Sarawak Report said that Abdul Gani had personally drafted the charge sheet to keep the political dynamite private and confidential, and possibly from potential snitches in his own chambers.

And if Abdul Gani did in fact draft the charge sheet, does his subsequent unlawful removal from post invalidate the charges he drafted in that sheet while he was AG, assuming of course he was himself initially appointed into that role of AG on a lawful basis?

Perhaps the dismissed Abdul Gani or Tun Abdul Majid and/or the new ‘AG’ can clarify this new fluff/conundrum?

Swipenter: All of us are paying the price of the avarice of one couple. This reminds me of the Marcos first couple of Philippines. Their avarice, corruption and spendthrift ways plunged their country into an abyss for decades from which they are just recovering.

Since the 1970s, Filipinos have to send their men and women to work overseas to send home badly needed foreign exchange. Here we may be facing a similar scenario and repeat the same mistake by foolishly defending one couple.

Anonymous_1421806811: Najib, are you not embarrassed or ashamed to stand beside the British PM?

Sarawak Report , your nemesis, said the ex-AG was allegedly finalising criminal charges against you before you got wind of it and fired him. Are you going to sue the Sarawak Report for fabricating and falsifying the draft charge?

It must be very uncomfortable for you, a person who was on the verge of facing corruption charges, to talk to the British PM who is against corruption. Your skin must be really very thick, perhaps suitable for the environment in Sungai Buloh.

Dalvik: Indeed, no one should clarify the alleged charge sheet except Abdul Gani himself. The same applies for the allegation of US$700 million deposited into Najib's private accounts. No one should clarify, except Najib himself.

SemoLina: I don't think new AG Mohamed Apandi Ali dared to check with his predecessor regarding the veracity of these draft charge sheets. If Abdul Gani said ‘yes’, then Apandi would have been put in a very tight spot.

So far the ex-AG has remained quiet and that speaks a lot if you get what I mean.

FairMind: Due to the highly sensitive confidential nature of the charge sheet, perhaps Abdul Gani could have drafted it and kept it to himself. This is the wording of the Sarawak Report , and I quote - "We have acquired the secret documents, which Gani Patail was in the process of drafting."

It says Abdul Gani was personally drafting it. Abdul Gani prepared it over the weekend probably at home. He came to work on Monday morning and he was locked out and I quote Sarawak Report, "A close insider has now confirmed to Sarawak Report that Patail had arrived at his office on Monday morning expecting to finalise the extremely sensitive charges..."

In such a case, the AG’s Chambers would not know about it, would they? He was sacked before he could give it to the chambers. That could be the reason why Tun Abdul Majid doesn't know about it.

Anonymous_1423808262: This means that Najib has spies everywhere. Perhaps, Abdul Gani drafted the prosecution papers and the Special Branch boss was tasked to arrest Najib - the services of both men were terminated on the same day.

The next day, there was a fire on 10th floor of ‘Peaceful Hill’. Try to connect the dots, something is up to no good.

Np: Indeed, there is no smoke without fire. But now we can also see fire, so it must be real.
