Department of Special Affairs (JASA) director Mohd Puad Zarkashi said there are no troubling sentiments from Johor Umno, despite the ousting of deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Johor Umno, said the former Batu Pahat MP, are used to having their leaders resign from top posts in either the government or the party.

"Johor people have faced the situation when Tun Musa Hitam resigned from the DPM (deputy prime minister) post before.

"Even when (Umno founder) Dato' Onn Jaafar resigned as Umno president for having conflicting views with others. Johor people are used to it. There are no Johor sentiments," he told the press after attending the opening ceremony for Seremban Umno division AGM today.

Puad also recalled that there was no rebellion when former prime minister Abdul Razak Hussein ( photo, right ) and Hussein Onn ( photo, left ) sacked Johor ministers before.

He said that Muhyiddin was not even sacked.

Rather, it was a cabinet reshuffle according to the Westminster system, he said, citing former Foreign Secretary Robin Cook who resigned from Tony Blair's cabinet over disagreement in the last gulf war.

"This is not a sacking, rather a reshuffling so that cabinet could work together as a team," he said.

However, Puad did not agree that divisions have to rescind their invitation to Muhyiddin as the latter is still the No.2 man in the party.

"Tan Sri Muhyiddin is still the deputy president. What is the problem if you are inviting him? Nobody can tell him off," he said.
