Will Muhyiddin start his fight for political survival?

YOURSAY ‘Once he’s removed as Umno No 2, Najib has one less battle left to fight.’

Kluang Umno digs up Altantuya’s ghost at AGM

Ferdtan: This is a small start for the embattled Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin to fight back into power. Out of so many Umno divisions, Kluang is just a lone one in the party to break away from the majority that are seen to be controlled/silenced by its president, Najib Abdul Razak.

For Muhyiddin, this show of support is not good enough as he cannot compete with his president who is also in the powerful position of prime minister.

Muhyiddin must take risks, even to the extent of being sacked as the deputy president, to go for broke. No tiptoeing his way around. It is time for action to survive politically. The longer Muhyiddin takes, the more support he will lose as Malaysians forget easily.

There is no use to play safe, as he will surely be removed from his position - maybe not now, but sooner or later. It has to come nevertheless. He is a thorn in Najib’s side.

Muhyiddin’s indecisiveness, thinking he has time to salvage his position, and not move fast - he is in for a shock. Once he is removed as deputy Umno president, Najib has one less battle to fight. With this political battle won, he can then concentrate fully on the 1MBD problem. One at the time.

Touche: Just tell all Johor Umno members to ABU (Anything but Umno).

Mushiro: This may be the beginning of a fightback from Muhyiddin. The issues raised by Kluang Umno have been bugging Najib and yet other Umno divisions could ignore and accept them. Unless these problems are explained and proper action taken, the people will not accept Najib.

Anonymous_1404717623: Johor Umno grassroots should ask help from Singapore MAS for concrete evidence of funds frozen in Singapore.

Lawfool: Corrupt politicians? Please do not say that. Can you produce evidence? So if there’s no proof, all politicians are clean. Understand?

Np: More divisions will join Kluang Umno to oppose corrupt politicians.

Pisasu 7: Najib has support in tiny states like Perlis, or Malacca, if Muhyiddin concentrates on Johor, Perak, Kedah and Trengganu, then Najib will be on the run.

Anonymous 2287241438070669: Looks like Johor, led by Johor royalty and Anak Johor Umno, are doing the nation proud. We all just want honest answers - not silent spokesmen answering with questions.

Kim Quek: Kluang Umno should be proud for breaking the monotony of the grey mass of spineless, sycophantic and unprincipled members that have come to symbolise the grotesque political antiquity known as Umno.

Kluang Umno, you are of course right in putting your party above the leader, and demand that the errant leader answers to you for his misdeeds.

However, I would venture to suggest that you elevate yourself one step higher. Put the nation above the party when the crunch comes. If you do that, you will truly earn the gratitude of all patriotic Malaysians.

Anonymous 847541435706261: Umno in Johor must support Muhyiddin as he knows the truth about the premier. It is not about toppling the premier. The deputy prime minister was sacked although there was no wrongdoing or crime committed. So we must support him.

Fair Play: Just remember this. The state of Johor is the cradle of Malay politics. Expect more fireworks from Johor Umno in the days ahead.

Yawkwai: Brothers of Johor. Kindly be reminded that the premier has three million Umno members behind him. Therefore a couple of hundred of you guys here and there is just not enough. Your voices are all drowned out.

Headhunter: Truth be told, Najib can only be toppled by Umno members. It's impossible for anyone outside Umno to topple him because he doesn't believe in the rule of law. If he is not toppled by Umno members, we all have a long wait till the 14th GE to do it.

Senior: Not to worry. He will woo other Umno with projects like those in Malacca .

Kawak: Umno grassroots supporters must wake up from their slumber. They have been sleeping, ignorant or blinded for years. Time for them to wake up, and throw out their corrupt leaders.

Caesar: These issues and scandals had been highlighted by Anwar Ibrahim, PKR and DAP years ago. What were you people doing then? Why didn't you support them then? Just because Muhyiddin got sacked, only now you want to bring it out.

Que sera sera: A bunch of hypocrites. They plastered their mouths when all the sins were committed a long time ago, and now they want to open up even Atlantuya's murder. Have they no shame?

James TCLow: Interesting times. The 'Clash of the Multi-Titans' premiere is now showing in cinemas throughout the universe. Producer and lead director: Malaysia.

Starring: Najib, Rosmah and Muyhiddin with supporting actors Mahathir, Shafie Apdal, HRH Sultan of Johor, Zahid Hamidi, AGC, MACC, Bank Negara, and IGP.

The audience: The whole of the universe.

This is a record breaking RM42 billion production. Must see.

Hmmmmmmmm: Santa will be visiting Johor soon with lots of big projects. Money solves everything here, even wrongdoing.

The Analyser: It’s a fascinating measure of the Malaysian mind that there is so much obsession over the sensational aspects of this society.

Yet, the waste through incompetence, inefficiency and neglect would leave all of the sensational aspects for dead in terms of losses to the nation.

Hplooi: Umno is now a house of cards delicately balanced. For now it seems the house of cards is stacked up, seemingly secure. But one breath of breeze can send the whole pack tumbling down. DPM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is now effectively in charge of backing up this house of cards.

But then again this means that he is now the most powerful man in Malaysia. And this also means that Malaysia will be going down the dictatorship route (given his inclination and character).

TheAnonymous: Just let me know when the showdown is. I can do without all these chest-thumping sideshows. I want a smackdown.

Anonymous #12566075: Only if other Umno divisions respond like Umno Kluang Division. Muhyiddin must speak up now and show his guts, not chicken out.

Justine Gow: Let the Battle Royale begin.
