Maldives debris not from MH370, says Liow

MH370 Debris examined by a Malaysian team in the Maldives was not from the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, a senior Malaysian official said today.

Some pieces were not even from a plane, according to the investigators, Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai told reporters.

The team was still sifting through the material and would bring any found to be from MH370 back to Malaysia for further analysis, he said.

The Boeing 777 disappeared without a trace with 239 people aboard about an hour after it left KL International Airport bound for Beijing on March 8, 2014.

Sixteen months later, debris washed up on the French island of Reunion and was examined by aviation experts in southern France.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak announced last week that the wreckage was “conclusively” found to be from the missing aircraft, while the French prosecutor spoke of a “very strong supposition” that the wing part was from that Boeing 777.
