Harapan Baru Youth (Gam HB) have sent a letter inviting Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin to join this weekend's Bersih 4 rally.

The letter was deposited into the former deputy premier's mail box, as there was no representative of Muhyiddin's to receive it.

"This is the instructions from Muhyiddin's child," a police personnel guarding the house in Bukit Damansara told Gam HB chief coordinator Mohd Sany Hamzan.

Muhyiddin is currently overseas and it is not clear when he will be back in Malaysia.

Speaking to reporters, Sany ( photo ) said they want the deputy Umno president to join the Bersih 4 rally because he is a brave leader with strong moral values.

"We hope Muhyiddin will join the people this Aug 29 and 30 at Dataran Merdeka to save the country from bankruptcy and the falling ringgit," he said.

Gam HB vice coordinator Shazni Munir who was also present said the group had informed Muhyiddin's aides about the letter last week.

"And from the SMS that were exchanged it looked like the reaction was positive," he said.

He added that Gam HB have no plans to invite any other Umno leaders to the rally.

The Bersih 4 rally will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu.

The rally is to demand four things: 1. Clean elections; 2. Clean governance; 3. Saving the economy; and 4. Preserving the right to dissent.
