Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be investigated for his involvement in the Bersih 4 rally.

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said police want to find out more about the claims Mahathir made during the protest.

"We will call him (Mahathir), he has made speeches and accusations.

"Among them he claimed Umno leaders had taken bribes, so we want to find out more," Khalid ( photo ) said.

Speaking at a press conference in Port Klang today, the top cop said Mahathir will be called in soon.

Khalid also confirmed that Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali will be probed for joining the rally as well.

"We will investigate all prominent leaders who joined Bersih," he said.

Mahathir briefly stole the thunder at the Bersih 4 rally when he showed up on both days of the event.

On his second visit, Mahathir had among others urged Umno and BN lawmakers to support a vote of no-confidence against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

'Break the law willy-nilly'

Meanwhile, Khalid said the seven Bersih 4 rally organisers called in for questioning today shouldn't be upset.

"I have said before, ' berani buat, berani tanggung ' (be responsible for your actions).

"They break the law at their pleasure. It is better not to have the law then," he said.

Besides probing speeches made during the rally, Khalid said police are also probing those who stepped on a photo of Najib and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

Those who brought effigies brought to the rally are also under investigation.
