Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said he is not aware of a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission probe against the police.

"I don't know about that [...] I have not been informed.

"I don't think the MACC would tell the media if they had (launched a probe)," he said at a press conference in Port Klang today.

Yesterday it was reported that the MACC had started a probe against action taken by various authorities and individuals, including the police,which it said constituted harassment to its investigations on SRC International Sdn Bhd.

During the course of its investigation, MACC officers were arrested and questioned by police, and their documents seized, for allegedly leaking information on the probe.

Two senior MACC officers had also been temporarily transferred to the Prime Minister's Department before the order was cancelled.

Section 48 of the MACC Act covers obstruction of MACC investigations or searches and stipulates eight instances of obstruction including assaulting, obstructing or hindering any MACC officer in the execution of his/her duties, and interference or attempts to interfere or threaten MACC officers involved in investigations.

Khalid was speaking to reporters after attending a Marine Police commemoration event at their base in Port Klang today.

The marine police he said, are focused, among others, on patrolling Sabah's eastern coast as part of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscomm).

He added, the 1,900 strong force is currently acquiring 200 vessels to boost its operations. It has already received 70 of the boats, and will be purchasing 29 more soon.
