Electoral reform movement Bersih launched a campaign today urging members of the public to pressure their respective MPs to support a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Announcing the campaign in Petaling Jaya, Bersih steering committee deputy chairperson Sarajun Hoda Abdul Hassan said 20,000 postcards have been printed for the 'Undi Tidak Percaya' campaign.

These will be distributed to the public through NGOs, which will collect and deliver them to the parliamentarians representing the various constituencies.

"I am very concerned by the allegations of graft involving Najib and his move to disrupt independent investigations towards those allegations.

"To restore public confidence in the government, I urge you support a no-confidence motion towards the prime minister during the October parliamentary sitting," reads the postcard.

Alternatively, Sarajun said, the people could also fill in their personal details at the 'Dear YB' website that Bersih has set up for the same purpose.

He said the website would automatically generate a digital version of the postcard which Bersih would print and mail out on the public's behalf.

"This follows Najib's refusal to give a clear explanation on the scandal over the RM2.6 billion transferred into his personal accounts that was allegedly used for the 13th general election campaign, apart from explaining the problematic 1MDB and its RM42 billion scandal.

"Bersih will not stop urging the public to pressure their representatives in Parliament to express their lack of confidence towards Najib," Sarajun told a press conference.

Bersih vice-chairperson Thomas Fann ( photo ) said the postcards may arrive at any time during the coming parliamentary sitting.

However, Fann said, it should preferably arrive before the session starts on Oct 19.

The sitting will continue until Dec 3 while the 2016 Budget will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 23.
