Two missing Orang Asli girls found safe

Two schoolgirls from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tohoi who went missing since Aug 23 were found safe but in weak condition in Sungai Emas in Gua Musang today.

Miksudiar Alui, 11, and Norieen Yaakob, 10, were found by the search and rescue (SAR) team at around noon near the area where a child skull was found yesterday.

The girls, who had been missing for 47 days, were taken to the Gua Musang Hospital for treatment.

They were among the seven Orang Asli pupils, comprising six girls and a boy, aged seven to 11 years, who escaped from the school’s hostel on Aug 23 for fear of punishment after going for a swim in a river without permission.

On Wednesday, the SAR team had also found a decomposed body of a child in the river, who was later identified as eight-year-old Sasa Sobrie.

Yesterday, a part of a child skull and rib bones were found about 500 metres from the site where Sasa’s body was found.

The identity, however, has yet to be ascertained.

With the discovery of the two safe girls, the search and rescue team was now intensifying efforts to find the remaining missing children.

They are Juvina David, seven; Linda Rosli, eight; Ika Ayel, nine, and Haikal Yaakob, eight.
