PKR wants its allies to stop fighting and stop interfering in each other's affairs.

Its deputy president Azmin Ali said one the resolutions made at the emergency central leadership committee (MPP) today is for all parties, including DAP, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), PAS and PSM, to respect each other and not quarrel.

PKR refers to these parties as ‘party sahabat’ (friendly parties).

"We urge all opposition parties to cease hostility and attacks between ourselves, and that friendly parties should respect differences and refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of other friendly parties," he told a press conference after the meeting today.

PKR is enduring attacks from its two partners in Pakatan Harapan, DAP and Amanah, as it still wants to include PAS in the new opposition pact.

The MPP meeting was also called after a group of MPP members sent a petition to the leadership demanding explanation for the “hasty” formation of Pakatan Harapan.

The disgruntled MPP members said this is because PKR still has a standing cooperation with PAS. They also questioned why friendly parties like PSM were left out.

PKR has in numerous occasions said it still hopes PAS can join Pakatan Harapan.

However, Amanah deputy youth chief Faiz Fadzil (photo) warned PKR that PAS might betray PKR as it is still led by a president that had betrayed the reformist party before.

As examples, he pointed out the Islamic party had put their own candidates in five constituencies contested by PKR in the last general election.

Both DAP and PAS had also repeatedly said they will not work together in a coalition.

The Islamic party president Abdul Hadi Awang last month made it clear that PAS will not cooperate with a party that has betrayed Islam , branding members of the party “traitors” and “worse than enemies”.

Azmin also said that PKR is committed to build a united opposition front to fight Umno and BN.

"PKR will continue to engage and dialogue with other friendly parties, and retains the right to establish bilateral cooperation at different levels as necessary," he said.
