Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli said he will harass 1MDB president Arul Kanda Kandasamy until he accepts the debate challenge on the troubled state-owned firm.

Rafizi said Arul Kanda had issued an unconditional acceptance for the debate and he should not retract it.

"His acceptance was unconditional. If a cat wants to debate with him, then he has to debate the cat.

"If Arul Kanda retracts (his acceptance) a week later, then it shows that 1MDB has everything to hide," Rafizi told a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.

'Arul Kanda duty-bound to debate'

Asked how he would harass Arul Kanda, the PKR lawmaker said he would figure that out later.

Rafizi added that Arul Kanda had a duty to take up the debate.

"It's his duty as the CEO of 1MDB to provide answers (because) we (the public) have our money stuck in 1MDB," he said.

Arul Kanda had opted out of the debate, citing Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia's concerns that the contest should be held only after the PAC invstigation into 1MDB is completed.

He also cited Pandikar's ruling on Tuesday that he could not testify to the PAC if he debated Pua.

However, Rafizi stressed that this condition did not apply to a debate with him.

This was in reference to Pandikar saying that he could not stop an MP who was not in the PAC from debating with Arul Kanda.
