Palestine whips Malaysia 6-0 again

It was deja vu for the Malaysian national football team after Palestine again whipped Harimau Malaya 6-0 in the Fifa World Cup Qualifiers tonight.

The result was a repeat of the 6-0 thrashing Palestine served Malaysia at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on June 17.

Harimau Malaya was able to hold off the Palestinian players for the first 30 minutes at the Amman International Stadium in Jordan but their defence crumbled after that.

Palestine's Ahmed Abunahia scored the first goal at the 38th minute and completed his hattrick with two more at the 45th and 58th minute.

Despite the best efforts of the Malaysian national team under coach Ong Kim Swee, they were outperformed by their war-torn rivals.

The defeat brings back bitter memories of the 10-0 thrashing by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in September that led to the resignation of coach and former national player Dollah Salleh.

Harimau Malaya is set to meet UAE again on Nov 17 and will have to work hard to prevent a repeat of the embarrassing results.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had, during the World Islamic Economic Forum on Nov 3, jokingly told a Palestinian journalist to let Malaysia win today's match.

"By the way, please allow Malaysia to win against Palestine.

"We lost 0-10 to the United Arab Emirates (UAE); (that was) very, very embarrassing," he had quipped.

However, the Palestinians showed no mercy as they delivered a lashing to the Malaysians.
