PARLIAMENT The government is still maintaining that media publisher The Edge is a threat to public order.

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this was why the government had suspended two publications of The Edge Media Group in July.

" The Edge was found to have published undesirable material that contained published content, which could threaten public order, security or shock the public's thoughts, or threaten public or national interests," Zahid said.

He said this in a written reply to Parliament yesterday, on a question from Zainudin Ismail (BN-Jelebu) on what action has been taken against The Edge, Sarawak Report and The Wall Street Journal for airing allegedly false and malicious news.

Zahid, who is also home minister, did not respond on the query about Sarawak Report and WSJ.

The Edge Weekly and The Edge FInancial Daily were suspended on July 27 after publishing a series of exposes on 1MDB.

The Kuala Lumpur High Court lifted the suspension on Sept 21, but the government is appealing the decision.
