PAS will no longer give in to other opposition parties on seat allocations in the next general election, said its deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

He noted each time the Islamic party joined forces with other parties that it ended up sacrificing its seats, and these had happened whether the party cooperated with Semangat 46, Parti Negara, or PKR.

He stressed that this practice will end now.

"Today if they ask PAS to cooperate with the new coalition (Pakatan Harapan), it means they want PAS' seats and that will no longer happen.

"We will not give up even one of our seats. The seats we contend for represents the party's dignity," Tuan Ibrahim said during the Selangor PAS elections in Kuala Selangor today.

The proceedings today have gone on the offensive against splinter party Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), who was reported to have sealed the new opposition pact with DAP and PKR yesterday without PAS.

Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad has called Amanah the "new enemy" that the party needs to fight against - apart from its conventional rival, Umno - while party president Abdul Hadi Awang had waved off the new coalition as transitory at best.

Straight fight

Meanwhile, Tuan Ibrahim said PAS is prepared to face Umno in a straight fight in the next general election if other opposition parties don't interfere.

He said he had been asked about the status of the party's cooperation within the Selangor government.

“ I stressed that it will be one-on-one against Umno as long as they don't interfere.

“ If we are attacked (by other opposition parties), we will (fight back),” he told some 6,000 PAS members present.

He added that the rakyat needs to vote PAS so that so that the sins of their parents who may have chosen the wrong leaders can be forgiven.

“ We have won in Selangor, in Kelantan, (and later) might take over Putrajaya. For what are we winning?

“ It is for Allah to forgive our sins in the past and in the present, the sins of our fathers who may have picked the wrong leaders.

“ Secondly, Allah promises that with Islam's victory, we will enjoy the blessings of perfect Islam, of economic stability, of leadership, of distribution of wealth to the people, of peace, of the execution of Allah's word and laws.

All these are blessings that haven't been tasted all these while,” he said.
