Wanita PKR chief Zuraida Kamaruddin has again been barred from entering Sarawak by the Immigration Department, without any reason given.

She was told of the bar against her entry at the Kuching International Airport about 1.15pm today, Zuraida said.

"The moment I checked out, the officer asked me to go the office, saying I was not allowed to enter Sarawak," she said, adding that this is the third time she has been barred from entering the state.

"Then I asked him to check with the state Chief Minister's Office. The officer said, there wasn't any clearance from the Chief Minister's Office.

The Ampang MP was barred from entering Sibu during Balingian state seat by-election in 2014, and was also prohibited from entering Kuching last year.

"I knew that I was in the blacklist. But I had written to the chief minister Adenan Satem (to have it reconsidered).

"During his courtesy visit to Adenan's office last year, Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali made a personal request to Adenan to allow us to enter Sarawak," she said.

Despite this, Zuraida, who travelled together with Wanita PKR deputy chief Haiza Talha, still achieved her target of meeting the six new women candidates from the party who are to contest in the next state election.

"We are going to field six women candidates in the election. I feel it is about time I meet them. So we met at the departure lounge," she said.

The meeting was made possible after the six took their domestic flights back to Kuching or to Miri, and they were lingering at the airport at the same time.

According to Zuraida, the women are capable candidates with professional backgrounds - three of them lawyers, one a businessperson, another an expert in the oil and gas industry and the last a young business management degree graduate.

"Three of them are below the age of 35, with the youngest only 27 years old," she said.

Others previously barred from Sarawak include PKR vice-presidents Tian Chua and Nurul Izzah Anwar, and DAP leader Teresa Kok.
