DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang will not backtrack on his remarks regarding the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's speech and reiterated the opposition's support for the monarchy.

"I'm only stating the constitutional position in a constitutional monarchy and there is nothing (malicious to it).

"We (the opposition) have made it very clear that we support the monarchy," he told Malaysiakini in an interview today.

Yesterday, the Agong in his opening address at this year's Parliament session urged parliamentarians to stop politicking for the gain of narrow interest, saying that he wanted them to appreciate their differing views instead of toppling and slandering each other.

His Majesty also wanted the continuation of the current administration to make Malaysia a high income nation.

Lim later claimed that the King's speech was prepared by the government.

In response to this, three individuals have lodged police reports against Lim, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Mohamad Sabu, and Malaysiakini .

In a statement later, Lim accused the three of lodging a false police report against him, and urged the police to investigate them

"The trio had committed criminal offences, particularly Section 182 of Penal Code which makes it an offence punishable with six months' jail, or RM 2,000 fine or both, for ‘false information’ in lodging a false report," he said.

Lim also said the reports against him were motivated by the Citizens' Declaration signed on Friday.

The declaration marked a new development in the fight against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, with Lim and other opposition leaders now united with former foes such as ex-premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Meanwhile, DAP’s Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng lodged a counter police report against the three individuals.

In his report, Lip Eng urged the police to investigate the trio for lodging false police reports.

Speaking to Malaysiakini , the DAP lawmaker said neither Kit Siang nor Mohamad had likened the Agong to a "parrot" or incited the public to ignore the King's speech.
