PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has picked up the gauntlet thrown to him by Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT), vowing to disclose the names of service veterans who he claimed have not been paid their gratuity by the fund after retirement.

Arguing that the matter is not his job to do so, Rafizi said he would, as requested, officially send in the list of names of armed forces retirees whose gratuity payments are still outstanding.

He also turned the tables on LTAT, criticising the fund for not answering his allegation on the purported outstanding payment from sovereign fund 1MDB to LTAT subsidiary Perbadanan Harta Perwira Malaysia (PPHM).

"Now, suddenly, it is my job to send in the list of names of veterans with outstanding gratuity payments. Furthermore, I was threatened with a lawsuit if I failed to do so.

"My office will formally send in the list of names of veterans who made official complaints to me and Lumut MP Imran Abdul Hamid, by 5pm today," Rafizi said at a press conference at the Parliament lobby.

Rafizi also repeated his calls to LTAT to disclose all matters pertaining to his previous allegations.

"It does not mean that they (LTAT) can run from what was brought up; that is what LTAT had to face because of 1MDB, whereby the fund's involvement posed a risk to the board's ability to pay retirees gratuity," he said.

Ability to pay gratuity

On Monday, Rafizi exposed an OSA classified document which he claimed prove links between 1MDB and LTAT.

He alleged that the business linkage with the debt-ridden 1MDB affected LTAT's ability to pay gratuity to armed forces retirees.

Malaysiakini does not physically or digitally posses the document and cannot report on its contents due to legal restrictions.

Rafizi had brought up the matter of 12,000 ex-military personnel who supposedly had not been paid their gratuity since 2014, demanding that LTAT chief executive Lodin Wok Kamaruddin resign over the matter, alleging that there is conflict of interest as Lodin is also 1MDB chairperson.

Subsequently, LTAT had challenged him to disclose the names of the military retirees whose gratuity payments are supposedly still outstanding.
