PAS is prepared to lose its executive councillor positions in the Selangor government as a consequence of contesting in the Sungai Besar by-election.

Party president Abdul Hadi Awang, in response to the alleged threat by Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali, said he hopes it won't come to that.

"I only heard rumours, it may be true, it may be false.

"If it's true that (Azmin) wants our excos to resign, well the appointment of excos is up to the state government, whereas the fielding of candidates in an election is up to the party.

“Plus, the appointment of excos requires the sultan's consent. So we are prepared for any eventuality, this is up to the sultan.

"Whatever it is, I hope it's just rumours," Sinar Harian today quoted Hadi saying.

He was commenting on a report by The Star on Thursday that Azmin had issued an ultimatum to PAS that their Selangor excos would be forced to quit if the party insists on contesting in Sungai Besar.

However, Azmin denied the report the same day.

"Don't jump to conclusions,” Azmin reportedly said when asked about the matter

Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad also dismissed such speculation when asked yesterday.
