Police reports filed against Rafizi over 'atom bomb for Najib' remark

K KANGSAR POLLS Police reports have been filed against PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli over his explosive humour during campaigning for the Kuala Kangsar by-election.

A local resident told reporters that the reports concerned the Pandan lawmaker's statement that he intended for an "atom bomb" to be hurled at Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak if the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) candidate won the June 18 contest.

Mohamad Halim Mohamad Ali, 37, said he and three others lodged the reports at various police stations in the parliamentary constituency yesterday.

Stressing that Rafizi should not be making such "threats", he revealed that more reports would be filed later.

"We want Rafizi to explain what he actually meant when he made that statement," he added.

In his police report lodged with the Kuala Kangsar district police headquarters, Halim cited Facebook user Norazniza Abdul Karim who claimed that Rafizi uttered the remark during a Pakatan Harapan ceramah last Thursday night.

Also mentioned was blog Utaranews.com.

The blog alleged that Rafizi urged voters to cast their ballots for Amanah candidate Ahmad Termizi Ramli.

He purportedly stated that being a nuclear physicist, the opposition candidate would "throw a bomb" if elected.

In a 16-second video clip, Rafizi introduces Termizi to the audience as a "nuclear physicist and a nuclear man".

"We want him, as soon as he enters Parliament, to throw an atom bomb at Najib over there, it would definitely explode," he quipped.

The by-election would witness a four-cornered fight among Termizi, BN’s Mastura Mohd Yazid, PAS’ Dr Najihatussalehah Ahmad and Independent Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.
