Bus driver almost dies in Jalan Pahang following crane collapse

A bus driver faced a horrific experience yesterday when a crane from the construction site nearby Jalan Titiwangsa collapsed and nearly crushed the bus he was driving.

In the incident at about 6.30pm, Idris Ham, 49, who was driving a Rapid KL bus with about 30 passengers, said he was shocked when the crane almost hit the driver’s side of the bus.

“The incident happened so suddenly. At that time, I was only thinking of death as the crane almost hit the top of where I was seated,” he told Bernama.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue operations division deputy director Azizan Ismail said the department received a call at 7.15pm and arrived at the scene 10 minutes later.

“Immediately after that, I directed seven members from Setapak fire station to the scene to monitor and help move the collapsed crane,” he said.

Azizan said two cars were also affected in the incident. However, there were no injuries or casualties reported.
