Penang has no plans to dissolve the state legislative assembly, putting to rest any speculation of snap polls in the state.

Speculation was rife over snap polls in Penang following Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy's remarks that DAP was mulling two options as a response to the corruption charges against Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

One of the option was snap polls, the other to wait it out until the next national polls  ̶  to be called by August 2018  ̶  to gauge the people's support for Lim, DAP or the state government.

"We have not made any decision to consider dissolving the state legislative assembly," Penang DAP chairperson Chow Kon Yeow said today in a press conference.

"There is also no decision to bring this issue to the party's state or central executive committee.

"Moreover, this is an old issue, I have explained it before and do not wish to add anything anymore," added the state executive councillor.

Meanwhile, in the same event, Chow received RM18,500 from Bersih Shanghai and Suzhou, China as donations to the 'Solidarity Campaign with Guan Eng".

At at 3.45pm today, the campaign has managed to collect RM1,881,635.61.

Lim was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on June 29 and claimed trial to two corruption charges related to the purchase of his bungalow on Jalan Pinhorn.
