Selangor PKR Youth today urged their Amanah counterpart to resolve their own issues with PAS and not drag the PKR-led state government into the matter.

This comes after Selangor Amanah delegate Jamzuri Ardani urged Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali to remove PAS from the administration, claiming PAS members with government positions are "thorns in the flesh".

Jamzuri at the Amanah convention yesterday said PAS members appointed as village chiefs, local council members and assemblypersons block Amanah events in Selangor, including preventing the use of government facilities.

"I would like to remind all (Pakatan Harapan) component parties not to drag the state goevrnment into its disputes which can affect the state administration," Selangor PKR Youth secretary Syed Shah Syed Osman said in a statement.

He added that following the formation of Harapan, eight Amanah representatives have been appointed into local government.

"This shows Selangor has made room for the political newcomer, Amanah, so they can be active in Selangor as a Harapan member," he said.

PAS remains in the Selangor government despite the break up of the Pakatan Rakyat coalition in 2015 and PKR forming a new pact with DAP and PAS splinter party Amanah.

PKR has 13 seats, DAP 14, Amanah two while PAS controls 13 seats in the legislative assembly.

The state executive council is made up of three PAS members while DAP and PKR have four members each. Azmin is also the PKR deputy president.

Demand for Batu seat unjustified

On a related matter, Syed Shah also took issue with Amanah Youth chief Sany Hamzan's call for PKR make way in the Batu parliamentary constituency.

Sany said PKR should do so if incumbent PKR vice president Tian Chua, is not confident of repeating his comfortable victories there in 2008 and 2013.

"Sany's insinuation that the seat should be handed to Amanah to contest is foolish and could lead to cracks in Harapan," Syed Shah said.

He said the Youth chief of a Harapan component party should know preference is given to incumbents to contest a seat which they have won with comfortable majorities.

"I understand Amanah's need to obtain seats to contest in the 14th general election, but the aim does not justify the means.

"There is no need to make insinuations and open criticism, especially about seats now held by top PKR leaders," he said.

He also urged Amanah to not rush into demanding seats and instead focus on building its capacity so the opposition coalition can topple BN together.
