Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar is not interested in debating with former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“I have said what needs to be said. Enough is enough.

“I make statements that are based on facts and figures, and not on a Western news report.

“I don’t make assumptions or create fears, that’s all.

“I do not want to lower myself,” the Johor sultan said, as reported by The Star today.

Mahathir had previously claimed in a series of comments and blog posts that huge tracts of land around Johor Baru were being sold to foreigners with no restriction, and there would be mass immigration to take up residence in these new cities.

He raised these concerns based on a Bloomberg report that claimed Forest City would accommodate 700,000 new houses upon its completion.

The Johor sultan had blasted Mahathir for these claims on Monday, saying that he was “deeply offended and hurt” by the former prime minister’s comments made over the past weeks.

He had also accused Mahathir of playing racial politics to create fear.

In response, Mahathir penned a letter yesterday, saying that he made his remarks based on a Bloomberg report on the development projects in Johor.
