Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad today said he has no intention to contest in the 14th general election.

This comes after he reportedly challenged Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz to contest against him in Langkawi, in response to Nazri's dare that Mahathir contest in Padang Rengas.

"Nazri challenged me to stand against him in his constituency Padang Rengas. I congratulate him for his courage.

"The reason for this bravado is that Nazri knew I have no intention to contest in the next general election. So his challenge is an empty one," Mahathir, 91, said in a blog post.
