Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has arrived in the UK for a meeting with the country's Prime Minister Theresa May.

Najib, who departed from the US after meeting its president Donald Trump, confirmed his latest visit on Twitter.

"Looking forward to further strengthen our bilateral ties," he said on the micro-blogging site.

According to Bernama, Najib arrived at 10 Downing Street, the official residence and the office of the British prime minister, at 5.05pm local time Thursday (midnight in Malaysia).

He was warmly greeted by May as both leaders shook hands and posed for the assembled photographers and TV crew.

This was followed by the introduction of the delegation members in the Front Hall of the famous London address, said the report.

Najib was accompanied by Foreign Minister Anifah Aman, Malaysian high commissioner to the United Kingdom Ahmad Rasidi Hazizi and chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa.

The Malaysian leader left for home after his meeting with May.

Unlike the US visit, Najib's UK trip was not publicised prior to his arrival.

Najib had visited the US from Sept 11 until 13, where apart from meeting the US president, he also engaged with the US-Asean business community.

During Najib's meeting with Trump, he had pledged to strengthen the US economy and announced that the Employees Provident Fund will invest between US$3 billion to US$4 billion in US infrastructure project.

He also announced Malaysia Airlines' planned purchase of between 33 to 58 aircraft from Boeing and that Khazanah Nasional Berhad will also increase investments in US tech companies.

Amongst those present in Najib's delegation to the US were his wife Rosmah Mansor, Foreign Minister Anifah Aman and International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed.
