Three members of the Malaysian police force were arrested for alleged involvement in the murder of a Mongolian women.

The victim, Anna Ana Ang, suspected to have had an affair with a Malaysian man, was believed to have been murdered and her remains blown up with an explosive, Bernama news agency said late yesterday.

The affair resulted wih Anna having a baby this year, it said.

Sulaiman Mohamad Yusof, Kuala Lumpur's police chief, told the agency police were searching for remains in a housing estate in Puncak Alam, west of Kuala Lumpur.

Bernama said Anna and her two female friends came to Malaysia early last month to meet at the residence of the prominent man, who already had a family.

Meeting did not 'go well'

The agency said her friends were told to leave the house while the matter was being resolved.

But the meeting did not "go well" and the man called up three police officers to remove Anna from the house.

Anna, however, did not return to their hotel, and subsequently the other two women made a police report of her disappearance.

Investigations led to the arrest of three police officers, including a women, it said.

The Star reported today that the police have picked up a prominent political analyst who is head of a think-tank in connection with the murder.
