DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng today confirmed that he would be contesting in Penang for the coming general election.

He however did not disclose the seat that he would be contesting although it is widely believed to be the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary constituency, presently held by DAP chairperson Karpal Singh.

He is also tipped to contest in the Seri Delima state seat.

dap pc 010208 lim guan eng “Over the past year I have received repeated requests from the DAP Penang to lead in the 12th general elections,” he said in a statement today.

“I have decided to contest in Penang to lead the people's movement of change from Umno's political dominance towards a functioning democracy with checks and balances as well as moving forward with a dynamic Penang that is shared by all.

“I humbly offer myself to the Penang to join in this people's movement of change inspired by one single motivation that we as a country has somehow not realized our potential or fulfilled the promises made and can do so much better,” he added.
