A wild boar head was found hanging next to a banner advertising an event organised by Majlis Permuafakatan Ummah (Pewaris) last Thursday.

The banner, which was hung on the fence of Sekolah Kebangsaan Pengkalan Balak in Malacca, highlighted issues concerning the Malay community, including the issue of a pig farm in Paya Menkuang.

Around 20 banners which highlighted the issues to be discussed at the Pewaris event were hung around the Majlis Tanah area.

"There were three other banners that specifically dealt with the pig farming issue, but only one banner was targeted," said Pewaris secretary, Akilah Arifin.

The wild boar head was discovered by residents close to the Tanjung Bidara-Kuala Sungai Baru roundabout in Alor Gajah.

Meanwhile, the Pewaris event which was held at the Samudera Riverside Hotel in Majlis Tanah earlier today, culminated in the burning of a pig effigy in the hotel compound. The move was in protest of the pig farm in Paya Mengkuang.

The other issues discussed in today’s event were the National Fatwa Council, race relations in the country, Ketuan Melayu and the New Economic Policy.

Abolition of pig farm sought

Pewaris also today handed over a memorandum to Majlis Tanah Umno divison leader, Wira Abu Seman Yusop, seeking the abolition of the pig farm in Paya Menkuang, believed to be some 300 metres away from the Kuala Kuang Malay village. The area is also a tourist spot.

Thursday’s incident was the third one this year involving animal carcasses. On Oct 13, a wild boar head was found on the Pengkalan Balak beach, while on Nov 13 another wild boar head was found hanging on the gates of the home of Umno Majlis Tanah division committee member, Md Rawi Mahmud.

Malacca police chief, Mazlan Mansor has issued a stern warning against those behind the incidents, adding that a special squad has been established to investigate the latest incident. However, no arrests have been made so far.
