AirAsia said today it is launching a new route connecting Macau with Sabah's Kota Kinabalu.

Another new flight will connect Penang with Kota Kinabalu and Sarawak's Kuching. The new flights will be operating in time for Chinese New Year, it said.

AirAsia was launched as a budget carrier in December 2001 with just two aircraft.

It now offers more than 100 domestic and international flights to Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
