Addressing the need for a well-rounded educational experience

Now more than ever, educators and education administrators are looking for new ways to effectively teach students. From teachers to politicians, debates are ongoing about how to best train up the next generation. New and innovative ways of delivering instruction have been imagined, and new philosophies of education developed. One philosophy of teaching that has received little attention from the public is the philosophy of a well-rounded education.

A good way to start working towards a well-rounded education is to understand that higher education is much more than the rank of an educational institution or how much money one can earn upon graduating.

“In focusing on these quantifiable results, we often negate the fundamental goals of education in any society: Shaping well-rounded students who possess both the hard skills necessary for their employment as well as the soft skills needed to become good citizens”, said Anne Rajasaikaran, CEO of Imperium International College.

A principal educational goal of Imperium is to provide relevant quality education in a stimulating academic, social and cultural environment and develop – in the process – graduates as lifelong learners who will make a positive contribution to society nationally and internationally. The ultimate objective is to create an environment where teaching and learning take place in a culture of scholarship, creativity, and innovation.

“I believe education in the current environment has to go beyond just merely paper qualifications. We work closely with some of our partner Universities to ensure we offer programs that will be relevant for our students, as they go out into the workforce”, she added.

Imperium International College intends to fill the gap, left by the Malaysian education system – which forms the crux of the main complaint by employers, preparing students for life in the workplace. This means more than just paper qualification but more importantly independent thinking, resourcefulness, and adaptability, in a practical work-life environment.

YM Tunku Dato' Yaacob Khyra, Chairman of Imperium International College said that the nurturing of students should begin from their early childhood. “With St. John’s International School, Pusat Tuisyen Kasturi, and Imperium International College, we aim to create a one-stop education hub for students to journey with us towards creating milestones.”

“I am a firm believer that learning is a lifelong process, and no one should be deprived of that. Therefore, we at Imperium have decided to introduce various levels of programmes, namely Certificate, Foundation, Diploma, Degree, and other professional papers for students across different levels.”

On top of that, our graduates will also be given opportunities to pursue a career with MAA Group, under any one of its publicly traded outfits, namely Melewar Industrial Group Bhd (MIG) and Mycron Steel Bhd”, he added.

Formerly known as HELP College of Arts and Technology (HELP CAT), Imperium International College successfully completed the takeover of HELP College of Arts and Technology and resumed operations in March 2020.

Imperium International College is now owned by MAA Group as the company puts focus on expanding its education business. MAA Group also owns St John’s International School and Pusat Tuisyen Kasturi under its subsidiary, Edumaax Sdn Bhd.

The college currently offers Free Foundation programmes as well as loyalty discounts worth up to RM34,000. Imperium International College also offers a wide range of scholarships and bursaries, thanks to its partnership with the Budimas Charitable Organisation.
