This year’s Thaipusam presented a grand and fitting platform for BOH, Malaysia’s trusted tea grower of Cameron Highlands, to kick start its first communi-tea engagement for the year. It was also made all the more special with BOH marking its 95th Anniversary at the festival.

The atmosphere at Batu Caves was lively with the beating of drums accompanied by dancing and singing of religious hymns. Devotees, both young and old, were seen fulfilling their vows. Some carried different types of kavadis as an expression of their faith, endurance, intercession and penance while others chose the milk pots.

Amidst this spectacular and energetic scene, BOH was on hand for the second year running, to share a cup of refreshing tea with everyone over the two-day celebrations.

Jason Foo, Chief Executive Officer of BOH Plantations, said, "Thaipusam was truly an exhilarating experience. It was wonderful that BOH could be part of this vibrant festival to share our refreshing  teas so everyone can experience the BOH Ummph! at the festivities.

“We are also thankful to those who supported the charity drive organised as part of our own 95th Anniversary efforts. This was a small way for us to rally everyone together to give back to the community and to support those in need. The effort also complements BOH’s promise of brewing for tomorrow. We desire to see communities thrive as we remain focused on our sustabili-tea efforts to enhance wellness, drive a sense of togetherness and ensure that BOH teas can continue to be enjoyed by future generations,” he added.  Proceeds from the charity drive together with a contribution from BOH was used to purchase 10 wheelchairs for Klinik Sivananda, a community clinic under the auspices of the Divine Life Society (DLS) Malaysia. The clinic provides free medical outpatient treatment to the needy.

President of the Divine Life Society, Sri Swami Swayamjayananda extended his heartfelt gratitude for the contribution. “Your compassionate gesture will profoundly impact the lives of those in need within our community, empowering them with mobility and dignity,” he added.

Vshalni Sangar, a social media influencer who has been attending Thaipusam for the last 14 years, said this year’s celebrations attracted a larger attendance than past years. It was nostalgic for her to see her family’s long-time favourite tea brand, BOH, present at the festival to share in the highlights. “Congratulations, BOH for turning 95 and being part of our lives,” quipped Vshalni.
