It was quite an irony to read Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad lamenting that there is "no more justice in this world" ( Sunday Star Online , Sept 29), that all the talk about fair play and justice and democracy and human rights is "sheer nonsense, mere bunkum and hypocrisy". All a pack of lies and "sheer propaganda".

In Malaysia where the prime minister is believed to hold the key to the dispensation of justice and fair play, it would not be too difficult to find hoards of people crying out against the injustice that has been wrought upon them and their families!

Is it fair play that sees the reformasi detainees still remaining under ISA detention or is it the twisted logic of Mahathir? Is there justice anywhere at all in the convictions that have found Anwar in prison?

Considering Mahathir's own definition of justice that he imposes in the land that he rules, I would imagine his statement made in reference to the siege that Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat had to endure would be disqualified.
