An open letter to Bukit Lanjan YB Elizabeth Wong

Dear YB Elizabeth,

We members of the community would like to express our concern on the development of the Damansara-Shah Alam Highway (DASH) in Bukit Lanjan. We know that from the past exco records, you were one of the eight exco members who voted to approve development of highways in Selangor state.

Being one of Selangor PKR’s most outspoken members, may we humbly ask why have you been quiet in replying to KW Mak’s write up on his blog on Dec 5, ‘YB Elizabeth Wong has some explaining to do’? Even PKR MP YB Hee Loy Sian has publicly decreed that he is clearly against such highway projects, as it does not comply with Buku Jingga’s main policies.

We met you in June, where a Pakatan press conference was held the the PJ Community Library. You clearly mentioned that you were not aware of DASH’s development. However, the project was approved in 2012, while you were on board! Therefore, we now would like to ask some basic questions;  

1. Where is sense of justice from Pakatan’s side? When you claim that Buku Jingga’s manifesto was to help the rakyat, we felt betrayed as we voted for Pakatan. Please can you explain, why is your manifesto not being complied with?

2. Why are you not speaking up for affected residents in your constituency, where DASH will cut through their area? DASHed dreams, is that what you want?

3. How do Pakatan Rakyat’s MPs and assemblypersons apply their sense of wisdom and judgment on such one-sided highways, with no open tenders, allegedly making obscene profits at the expense of the rakyat?

4. Why are MPs still silent? Both PKR and DAP clearly know that RTPJ1, RTPJ2 have not been complied with and still the federal and Selangor governments are seen as cohorts of this crony project?

5. PKR MP Sivarasa mentioned in June, that, “If we don’t vote Pakatan, we will have to vote BN - that is the truth.” However, let us say, we had voted for Pakatan, but from these dismal decisions of Pakatan, we rakyat will vote another force or third party, as in six years, Pakatan’s true colours  are showing. Is that what you want?

6. On Dec 3, it was reported that MB Mohd Azmin Ali had said, “Three pre-conditions to be complied with by highway developers”- i.e. DASH and Kidex have been asked to come up with compliance requirements. However, why  are these developers silent? Will you help us get the answers?

Residents’ concern

We hope that you as a supposedly capable and outspoken lady MP, will come to the front and push the developers. Now, shouldn’t you quickly answer the poor residents’ concern and the DASH’s spokesperson’s questions? Furthermore, we voted for Pakatan in 2008 and 2013, hoping that our next generation’s future can be secured. However, this does not seem to be the case. What will you do about this?  

In today’s scenario where the ruling federal and state governments, together with the local councils are ganging up on and depriving property owners of their human rights, there is something extremely wrong with our democracy system. Please stand up, and make the right decisions this Christmas.
