I'd like to comment on the report American offers his vote to Malaysiakini readers.

Even if the American president has an effect on global issues it does not mean that people of the world should vote for him/her. The reasons being:

We, people other than the Americans, should not allow the US to dominate the economic and cultural aspects of our lives. If we vote for a US president we are further affirming American domination and relegate our own existence in this world to the back waters;

The American president is brought to the fore because of very powerful economic and media fronts in the US, who are able to put their 'own choice' president in the fore. We should stop their domination and elaborate colonisation processes. Voting for a US president is not going to better our lives;

The US does play an international role (whether its important or not, this is controversial) but most of its own citizens do not even know or even care about places outside of the US where their own country has changed the history and lives of people.

Why should we ever vote for a US president when even most US citizens don't even care?
